Hello! My name is Efua Hayfron-Benjamin. I am a rising senior at New York University studying drama with a minor in Dance. Growing up, I lived in various places. Traveling with my mother and brother in an RV I have lived in Trinidad And Tobago, Texas, Florida, Maryland, and Hawaii. Most recently I studied abroad in Berlin. Growing up in Trinidad exposed me to a diverse mix of cultures. My worldly experiences have made me a toolbox of artistry and inspiration. Much like Trinidad, I am also a melting pot of techniques and methods in theatre practice. I have trained at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC, The Atlantic Acting School, and The Commonwealth Shakespeare Company. Additionally, this upcoming summer, I will be flying all the way to Amsterdam for the International Theatre workshop. Following that this fall I will be training at The Experimental Theatre Wing at NYU. Trinidadian folklore where I got my grounding is extremely experimental and theatrical, and since moving to New York, I have continued to be immensely interested in experimental and independent work. Creating my own work is at the forefront of my artistic aspirations. I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded new artists. My hobbies include eating my favorite food (Pho Tai), dancing in Berlin techno clubs, and making original short films with my friends. If you want to create some explosive and brave art, reach out, let's collaborate!
